Preparations

Unpack the phone and ensure all components are present: telephone base, 5 cordless handsets, 5 rechargeable battery packs (BT162342/BT262342, 2.4V 300mAh Ni-MH), 4 charger adapters, base power adapter, telephone line cord, quick start guide, user's manual. Install batteries in handsets (insert with "THIS SIDE UP" facing up, slide cover) and charge for 16 hours before first use. Place base away from water, heat sources, and interference. Features include backlit display, speakerphone, adjustable ringer, 1000-name phonebook, 50-name caller ID log, 10-number redial, Smart Call Blocker, quiet mode, voicemail waiting indicator, call screening, remote access, and VTech Connect to Cell app. Supports English, Spanish, French. Handset and base layouts include navigation keys, volume controls, dedicated buttons for mute, redial, find handset, Bluetooth cell/home keys, CALL BLOCK.

Precautions

Removing Old Phone

Shut off power if applicable. Remove old phone cover. Label wires before disconnecting. Disconnect wires one at a time; do not let fall into wall. Remove old base from wall.

Installation

Plug telephone line cord into base and wall jack (use DSL filter if needed). Plug power adapter into base and unswitched outlet. Install batteries in handsets (with "THIS SIDE UP"). Check Operation

Basic Calling

  1. Press HOME/FLASH or CELL, enter number.
  2. To answer: Press HOME/FLASH, CELL, or any dialing key.
  3. Adjust volume with VOL+/-.
  4. End call: Press OFF/CLEAR or place in base/charger.

Answering Machine

  1. Press ANS ON/OFF on base to turn on.
  2. Record announcement: Menu > Answering sys > Announcement > Record.
  3. Test by calling from another phone; messages record automatically.

Intercom

  1. Press INT, enter extension number.
  2. Answer: Press HOME/FLASH, CELL, or dialing key.
  3. Transfer call: Press INT during call, enter number.

Caller ID

View via CID; new calls with icon. Dial back with HOME/FLASH or CELL. Save to phonebook via SELECT.

Operating Features

Programming

Access menu with MENU/SELECT. Set date/time, program phonebook, configure ringer.
