Preparations

Unpack the phone and ensure all components are present: telephone base, 2 cordless handsets, rechargeable battery packs, battery compartment covers, belt clips, base power adapter, telephone line cord, 1 handset charger, user's manual. Install batteries in handsets and charge for 12 hours before first use. Place base away from water, heat sources, and interference. Use wall mount bracket if desired.

Description

The VTech DS6621-2 is a cordless DECT 6.0 phone with Bluetooth for up to 2 cell phones/headsets, digital answering system (99 messages, 25 min recording time). Features include large backlit display, speakerphone, adjustable ringer, 1000-name phonebook, 50-name caller ID log, 10-number redial, call block, quiet mode, voicemail waiting indicator, and VTech Connect to Cell app support. Supports English, Spanish, French. Handset and base layouts include navigation keys, volume controls, dedicated buttons for mute, redial, find handset, Bluetooth cell/home keys.

Applications: Residential cordless telephony with cell integration; Compatible with DSL/Caller ID/VoIP; Up to 5 handsets.

Precautions

CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, unplug before installation. Use only supplied adapters. If in doubt about wiring, consult qualified electrician.

Specifications

Removing Old Phone

Shut off power if applicable. Remove old phone cover. Label wires before disconnecting. Disconnect wires one at a time; do not let fall into wall. Remove old base from wall.

Installation

Plug telephone line cord into base and wall jack (use DSL filter if needed). Plug power adapter into base and unswitched outlet. Install batteries in handsets (connector first, label up, slide cover). Place handsets in base/charger to charge for 12 hours. For wall mount, attach bracket and slide base into place. Pair Bluetooth devices: Press CELL 1/2 on base, enable Bluetooth on cell phone, select VTech DS6621.

Wiring Diagrams

Terminal Designations: RJ11 jack for line cord on base; DC jack for power adapter.

Standard Setup: Wall jack to DSL filter (if needed) to base RJ11; Power outlet to adapter to base DC jack.

Check Operation

After charging, lift handset and listen for dial tone. Test by dialing a number and adjusting volume. Verify CHARGE light on base. Check Bluetooth connection lights.

Basic Calling

  1. Press /HOME or /CELL, enter number.
  2. To answer: Press /HOME, /CELL, or any dialing key.
  3. Adjust volume with VOL+/-.
  4. End call: Press OFF/CLEAR or place in base/charger.

Answering Machine

  1. Press ANS ON/OFF on base to turn on.
  2. Record announcement: Menu > Answering sys > Announcement > Record.
  3. Test by calling from another phone; messages record automatically.

Intercom

  1. Press /INT, enter extension number.
  2. Answer: Press /INT or dialing key.
  3. Transfer call: Press /INT during call, enter number.

Caller ID

View via CID; new calls with icon. Dial back with /HOME or /CELL. Save to phonebook via SELECT.

Operating Features

Programming

Access menu with MENU/SELECT. Set date/time, program phonebook, configure ringer.

  1. Set Time: Menu > Settings > Set date/time > Enter MM/DD/YY, HH:MM > SELECT.
  2. Phonebook Entries: Menu > Phonebook > Add new entry > Enter number/name > Save. Download from cell: Menu > Bluetooth > Download phonebook.
  3. Run: Exit menu; changes activate immediately.
