Preparations

Unpack the phone and ensure all components are present: handset(s), telephone base, charger(s), battery(s), power adapter(s), telephone line cord, wall mount bracket (for multi-handset models). Install battery in handset(s) (use only provided battery). Place handset(s) in telephone base or charger. Charge for 12 hours for full charge. Battery indicators: Flashing empty (no charge, charge at least 30 minutes); Low battery (charge at least 30 minutes); Full (HANDSET X, keep in base/charger when not in use). For best performance, keep handset in base/charger when idle. If unused for long time, disconnect and remove battery to prevent leakage.

The VTech CS6919 is a DECT 6.0 cordless phone with digital answering system (22 min recording time). Features include backlit display, speakerphone, adjustable ringer, 50-name phonebook, 30-name caller ID log, 10-number redial, call block, quiet mode, voicemail waiting indicator, call screening, remote access, ECO mode, and TIA-1083 compatibility. Supports English, French, Spanish. Handset and base layouts include navigation keys, volume controls, dedicated buttons for mute, redial, find handset, intercom.

Applications: Residential cordless telephony; Compatible with DSL/Caller ID; Up to 5 handsets.

Precautions

CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, unplug before installation. Use only supplied adapters. If in doubt about wiring, consult qualified electrician.

WARNING! Do not use on circuits exceeding 120 VAC; improper use can cause shock/fire. All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Avoid use during storms, near gas leaks, or with pacemakers without consulting doctor. Dispose of batteries per local regulations. Install DSL filter if using high-speed internet.

Specifications

Removing Old Phone

Shut off power if applicable. Remove old phone cover. Label wires before disconnecting. Disconnect wires one at a time; do not let fall into wall. Remove old base from wall.

Installation

Connect power adapter to base and outlet. Connect telephone line cord to base and wall jack (route through wall mount bracket if mounting). If DSL, install filter between line cord and jack. Install battery in handset. Place handset in base/charger to charge. Set date/time: MENU > Set date/time > Enter MM/DD/YY > SELECT > Enter HH:MM > AM/PM > SELECT. Check dial tone: Press dialing key; if no tone, verify connections or contact provider for digital/VoIP rewiring. For wall mount, align wall mount bracket on standard wall plate, connect line cord to base, route through bracket, connect to wall jack, align base on bracket, slide down until clicks.

Wiring Diagrams

Terminal Designations: Power adapter jack, telephone line cord jack on base.

Wall Mount: Use bracket as above; ensure correct orientation.

CAUTION! All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Do not use switched outlets.

Check Operation

After charging, lift handset and listen for dial tone. Test by dialing a number and adjusting volume. Verify charging light on base. Dial tone: Press dialing key; hear tone if successful. Charging: Place in base; battery icon animates. Range: Move handset; if "Out of range," approach base.

Basic Calling

  1. Press /SPKR, dial number.
  2. To answer: Press /SPKR or dialing key.
  3. Adjust volume with / during call.
  4. End call: OFF or place in base.

Answering Machine

  1. Press ANS ON/OFF on base to turn on.
  2. Record announcement: Menu > Answering sys > Announcement > Record.
  3. Test by calling from another phone; messages record automatically.

Intercom

  1. INT > enter handset number.
  2. Answer: /SPKR or dialing key.
  3. Transfer call: INT during call > enter number.

Caller ID

Review: CID > scroll. Dial: /SPKR. Save to phonebook: SELECT > To Phonebook > edit > save. Delete: DELETE. Missed: Displays XX missed calls; hold OFF to clear indicator.

Operating Features

Programming

Access menu with MENU/SELECT. Set date/time, program phonebook, configure ringer.

  1. Set Time: MENU > Set date/time > SELECT > Enter MM/DD/YY > SELECT > Enter HH:MM > / for AM/PM > SELECT.
  2. Phonebook Entries: MENU > Phonebook > Add new entry > SELECT > Enter number > SELECT > Enter name > SELECT.
  3. Run: Exit menu; changes activate immediately.

Configuration

Enter menu via MENU/SELECT. Adjust LCD language, key tone, ringer volume/tone, voicemail number, call block, quiet mode.
