Preparations

Unpack the phone and ensure all components are present: 2 handsets, telephone base, power adapters for base and chargers, telephone line cord, 2 battery packs, 2 battery compartment covers, 2 belt clips, wall mounting bracket (if included). Install batteries in each handset and charge for 12 hours before first use. Place base away from water, heat sources, and interference. Use screwdriver for wall mounting if desired.

Description

The VTech CS5119-2 is a DECT 6.0 cordless phone with crystal clear sound, expandable up to 5 handsets. Features include backlit display, speakerphone, adjustable ringer, phonebook, caller ID log (30 entries), redial, call block, quiet mode, and voicemail indicator. Handset and base layouts include navigation keys, volume controls, mute, and dedicated buttons for INT, CID, REDIAL.

Applications: Residential cordless telephony; Compatible with DSL/Caller ID; Up to 5 handsets.

Precautions

CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, unplug before installation. Use only supplied adapters. If in doubt about wiring, consult qualified electrician.

WARNING! Do not use on circuits exceeding 120 VAC; improper use can cause shock/fire. All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Avoid use during storms, near gas leaks, or with pacemakers without consulting doctor. Dispose of batteries per local regulations. Install DSL filter if using high-speed internet.

Specifications

Removing Old Phone

Shut off power if applicable. Remove old phone cover. Label wires before disconnecting. Disconnect wires one at a time; do not let fall into wall. Remove old base from wall.

Installation

Connect telephone line cord to base and wall jack (use DSL filter if needed). Connect power adapter to base and unswitched outlet. Install batteries in each of the 2 handsets (connector first, label up, slide cover). Place handsets in base/chargers to charge for 12 hours. For wall mount, attach bracket and slide base into place.

Wiring Diagrams

Terminal Designations: RJ11 jack for line cord on base; DC jack for power adapter.

Standard Setup: Wall jack to DSL filter (if needed) to base RJ11; Power outlet to adapter to base DC jack.

Wall Mount: Route cords through bracket slots.

CAUTION! All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Do not use switched outlets.

Check Operation

After charging, lift handset and listen for dial tone. Test by dialing a number and adjusting volume. Verify CHARGE light on base.

Basic Calling

  1. Press talk/flash or /SPEAKER, enter number.
  2. To answer: Press talk/flash, /SPEAKER, or any dialing key.
  3. Adjust volume with VOL+/-.
  4. End call: Press OFF or place in base/charger.

Answering Machine

The system includes an answering machine. Refer to full manual for setup: Record announcement via menu, set rings (2-6/Toll saver), remote access code. Play messages with PLAY/STOP on base.

Intercom

  1. Press INT, enter extension number.
  2. Answer: Press talk/flash, INT, or dialing key.
  3. Transfer call: Press INT during call, enter number.

Caller ID

View via CID; new calls with icon. Dial back with talk/flash. Save to phonebook via SELECT.

Operating Features

Programming

Access menu with MENU/SELECT. Set date/time, program phonebook, configure ringer.

  1. Set Time: Menu > Set date/time > Enter MM/DD/YY, HH:MM > SELECT.
  2. Phonebook Entries: Menu > Phonebook > Add new entry > Enter number/name > Save.
  3. Run: Exit menu; changes activate immediately.

Configuration

Enter menu via MENU/SELECT. Adjust LCD language, key tone, ringer volume/tone, voicemail number, call block, quiet mode.
