The VTech CM18045 is a 4-Line Small Business System Cordless Handset, compatible with the CM18445/AM18447 console. Preparations

Register the handset to the CM18445/AM18447 console before use. Install the console first, then expand with this handset. Install the handset close to a power outlet not controlled by a wall switch. Avoid placing near communication devices, heat sources, noise sources, dust, moisture, or extreme temperatures. Charge the battery for at least 16 hours before first use.

Description

The VTech CM18045 is a cordless DECT 6.0 handset with backlit display, speakerphone, adjustable ringer, directory (100 entries), call log (50 entries), redial (10), speed dial (10), intercom, paging, and access to private mailbox answering system. Supports English, French, Spanish. Handset layout includes navigation keys, volume controls, line keys (1-4), mute, and headset jack.

Applications: Small business multi-line telephony; Compatible with DSL/Caller ID; Up to 9 handsets.

Precautions

CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, unplug before installation. Use only supplied adapters. If in doubt about wiring, consult qualified electrician.

WARNING! Do not use on circuits exceeding 120 VAC; improper use can cause shock/fire. All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Avoid use during storms, near gas leaks, or with pacemakers without consulting doctor (keep 6 inches away). Dispose of batteries per local regulations. Install DSL filter if using high-speed internet. Inform parties before recording calls.

Removing Old Handset

Power off old handset. Remove battery if applicable. Deregister from console if needed.

Installation

Plug charger power adapter into unswitched outlet. Install battery in handset (connector in, label up, slide cover). Place in charger for 16 hours. Register to console: On console, Menu > Registration > Register ext; press # on handset. For wall mount, use two 10mm screws 30mm apart.

Wiring Diagrams

Terminal Designations: Charger DC jack for power; Handset battery compartment and headset jack.

Standard Setup: Power outlet to adapter to charger DC jack; Battery into handset; Headset into 2.5mm jack.

Console Wiring: RJ11/RJ14 for lines 1-4 on console base; DSL filter if needed.

CAUTION! All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Do not use switched outlets.

Check Operation

After charging, lift handset and listen for dial tone. Test by dialing a number and adjusting volume. Verify line indicators and CHARGE light.

Basic Calling

  1. Press LINE 1-4, enter number, or predial and press line key.
  2. To answer: Press line key or SPEAKER.
  3. Adjust volume with VOL+/-.
  4. End call: Press OFF or place in charger.

Answering Machine

  1. Press M.Box for private mailbox; set on/off, rings, record announcement.
  2. Play messages: Menu > Play Messages.
  3. Remote access: Dial console, enter code, follow prompts.

Intercom

Press INT, select extension, press SELECT; answer with INT or SPEAKER. Supports transfer and conference.

Caller ID

View via CID; new calls with icon. Dial back with line key; save to directory. Supports name/number display and memory match.

Operating Features

Programming

Access menu with MENU/SELECT. Set date/time, program directory/speed dial, configure ringer.

  1. Set Time: Menu > Handset setup > Date/Time > Enter MM/DD/YY, HH:MM > SELECT.
  2. Directory Entries: Menu > Directory > Store > Enter number (up to 32 digits), name (24 chars) > Save.
  3. Run: Exit menu; changes activate immediately.

Handset Configuration

Enter menu via MENU/SELECT. Adjust LCD language, key tone, auto key lock, primary line, call privacy, hold reminder, handset name.
