Preparations

Unpack the handset and ensure all components are present: cordless handset, rechargeable battery pack (Ni-MH 2.4V 550mAh), battery cover, belt clip, handset charger (C4300/C4310). For battery replacement: If cover secured by screw, remove screw and cover; align battery pack with "THIS SIDE UP" label and insert; replace cover by aligning tabs and sliding until secure, reinsert screw if applicable. Charge new battery by placing handset in charging base/stand connected to PoE for at least 10 hours initially (full charge up to 6 hours). Maximum battery life: >7 hours talk time, 6 days standby. Place charging stand away from water, heat sources, and interference. Use wall mount bracket if desired.

Description

The VTech C4500 is a DECT 6.0 accessory handset with 2-line support, features including caller ID (subscription required), SIP integration, redial, adjustable volume, ringer options. Supports basic calling, intercom, call transfer, and conference between lines when paired with a compatible base. Handset layout includes dedicated buttons for TALK, /SPEAKER, HOLD, CONF, FLASH, REDIAL, MUTE, INTERCOM, VOLUME +/-, LINE 1/LINE 2, numeric keys, and MESSAGE WAITING LED.

Precautions

CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, unplug before installation. Use only supplied batteries and chargers. Connect only to host equipment, not directly to PSTN. If in doubt about wiring, consult qualified technician.

WARNING! Do not use on circuits exceeding specified voltage; improper use can cause shock/fire. All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Avoid use during storms, near gas leaks, or with pacemakers (maintain 6-inch distance). Dispose of batteries per local regulations and RBRC program. Specifications

Removing Old Phone

Shut off power if applicable. Remove old handset cover and screw if present. Label battery connector before disconnecting. Disconnect battery; do not let fall into stand. Remove old charging stand from wall.

Installation

Connect Cat-5 network cable to charging stand/base (C4300/C4310 or S2420) and PoE network wall jack. Install battery in handset (align "THIS SIDE UP", snap cover). Place handset in charging cradle for initial 10 hours. For wall mount, turn bracket upside down, align eyelets with wall studs, slide to lock, route cable. Register handset: On idle handset, press *331734# then HOLD; base announces registration.

Check Operation

Basic Calling

  1. Press LINE 1 or LINE 2, then enter number (or /SPEAKER for speakerphone).
  2. To answer: Press TALK or /SPEAKER.
  3. Adjust volume with VOLUME +/-.
  4. End call: Press OFF or place in cradle.
