The VTech Accessory Handset is compatible with DS6321 or DS6322 DECT 6.0 cordless telephone systems. It expands the system up to 5 handsets and features a backlit display, speakerphone, phonebook access (shared), call log, redial, adjustable ringer, and intercom. Supports English/Spanish/French. Preparations

Unpack the accessory handset and ensure all components are present: cordless handset, rechargeable battery pack (2.4V 400mAh Ni-MH), battery compartment cover, charger adapter (6V DC 400mA), handset charger. Install battery in handset and charge for 16 hours before first use. Place charger away from water, heat sources, and interference. Compatible only with DS6321 or DS6322 base.

Description

The VTech Accessory Handset extends the DS6321/DS6322 system with DECT 6.0 technology. Features include backlit display, speakerphone, adjustable ringer, access to shared 50-name phonebook and 45-name caller ID log, 5-number redial, quiet mode, voicemail indicator, remote access (via base). Supports English, Spanish, French. Handset layout includes navigation keys, volume controls, dedicated buttons for mute, redial, find handset, INT.

Applications: Expand existing DECT 6.0 system; Compatible with DSL/Caller ID; Up to 5 total handsets.

Precautions

CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, unplug charger before maintenance. Use only supplied adapters. If in doubt about compatibility, consult VTech support.

WARNING! Do not use on circuits exceeding 120 VAC; improper use can cause shock/fire. Avoid use during storms, near gas leaks, or with pacemakers without consulting doctor (maintain 6-inch distance). Dispose of batteries per local regulations. Install DSL filter if using high-speed internet on base system.

Installation

Plug charger adapter into unswitched outlet and handset charger. Install battery in handset (connector first, label up, slide cover). Place handset in charger to charge for 16 hours. For wall mount, attach charger bracket. Register to existing DS6321/DS6322 base via MENU > Registration on base and handset.

Wiring Diagrams

Terminal Designations: DC jack for charger adapter on handset charger.

Standard Setup: Power outlet to adapter to charger DC jack.

Wall Mount: Route cord through bracket slots.

CAUTION! All wiring must conform to local/national electrical codes. Do not use switched outlets.

Check Operation

After charging and registration, lift handset and listen for dial tone. Test by dialing a number and adjusting volume. Verify CHARGE light on charger.

Basic Calling

  1. Press /FLASH, enter number.
  2. To answer: Press /FLASH or any dialing key.
  3. Adjust volume with VOL+/-.
  4. End call: Press OFF/CLEAR or place in charger.

Intercom

  1. Press INT, enter extension number.
  2. Answer: Press /FLASH or dialing key.
  3. Transfer call: Press INT during call, enter number.

Caller ID

View via CID; new calls with icon. Dial back with /FLASH. Save to phonebook via SELECT (shared with base).

Operating Features

Programming

Access menu with MENU/SELECT. Set date/time (syncs with base), program phonebook (shared).

  1. Set Time: Syncs automatically from base.
  2. Phonebook Entries: Access shared via base; add via handset Menu > Phonebook > Add contact > Enter number/name > Save.
  3. Run: Exit menu; changes activate immediately.

Configuration

Enter menu via MENU/SELECT. Adjust LCD language, key tone, ringer volume/tone (local settings).
