Preparations

Unpack the deskset and ensure all components are present: deskset, corded handset with coiled cord, power adapter, wall mount bracket, directory card, user's manual. Install backup battery (BT266342, 2.4V 750mAh Ni-MH) if desired for power outage operation. Place away from water, heat sources, and interference. Requires registration to CM18445/AM18447 console. Professional installation recommended for PBX/multi-line setup. Charge backup battery for 16 hours initially.

Base includes power jack, handset jack, headset jack (2.5mm), line jacks (via console), and supports voicemail detection. Features include speed dial memory (32 locations, up to 32 digits), ringer adjustment (6 levels, 10 tones), flash for call waiting, full-duplex speakerphone, conference, paging, directory, caller ID, private mailbox. Designed for guest room or small business use with up to 9 extensions.

Installation

Install backup battery: Open compartment, insert BT266342 (THIS SIDE UP), close cover. Connect coiled handset cord to base and handset. Plug power adapter to base jack and outlet. Connect to console via line cords (L1/2, L3/4). Desktop: Attach wall mount bracket (low/high angle), place on flat surface. Wall mount: Remove bracket, reattach for wall, align with wall plate (3/4-inch spacing), slide down to lock, route cords. Register: On console MENU > Registration > Register ext.; on deskset press #. Ensure installation height under 2 meters. Optional headset: Plug 2.5mm into HEADSET jack.

Check Operation

Lift handset for dial tone on each line. Dial test number, adjust volume with +/- keys. Verify message LED flashes on voicemail simulation. Check ringer by calling each line from another phone. Test speakerphone, conference, intercom, and paging functions. If no dial tone, check connections to console and power.

Operating Features

Programming

Speed dials, directory, and settings programmed via MENU key. Admin access via console for system-wide; deskset for local.

  1. Store Speed Dial: MENU > Speed dial > Select key > Add from DIR/CID/Enter number > MENU.
  2. Dial Speed Dial: Press programmed key (off-hook).
  3. Edit: MENU > Speed dial > Select > Edit.
  4. Delete: MENU > Speed dial > Select > DELETE.
  5. Directory Store: Predial number > MENU > Enter name > MENU.

Changes effective immediately.

Configuration

Adjust via MENU: Volumes, ringer, tones, DND, LCD, language, primary line, privacy, hold reminder. Defaults: Ringer level 3, English.
