Preparations

Unpack the telephone and ensure all components are present: telephone base, corded handset, telephone line cord. Preparation involves installing by a qualified technician only, connecting only to host equipment (not directly to PSTN or POTS), and ensuring a stable surface for placement. If High Speed Internet Access is available, a DSL filter (not included) is required between the telephone line cord and wall jack.

Description

The VTech A1311 is a compact analog corded 1-line telephone featuring adjustable listening volume (levels 1-6), switch hook for ending calls, wall mount clip, large MESSAGE WAITING LED (flashes for incoming calls and voicemail), RINGER TONE switch (3 tones), coiled handset cord jack. Base includes telephone line jack and supports voicemail voltage detection (3 methods). Features include multi-step volume control, ringer tone selection, parallel call sharing, antibacterial plastic, and textured matte finish. Designed for guest room use.

Precautions

Hold handset only in normal talk mode near ear. Power adapters for vertical/floor mount only. Use only specified power cord/batteries; do not dispose in fire. For wall mounting, align eyelets with studs and slide down to lock. Keep small metallic objects away from handset receiver.

Installation

Plug telephone line cord into telephone line jack on base and telephone wall jack. If High Speed Internet, install DSL filter (not included) between line cord and wall jack. Desktop: Place on flat surface. Wall mount: Position the eyelets on the telephone base against the mounting studs of the wall plate. Slide the telephone base down on both mounting studs until it locks into place. Connect coiled handset cord to handset and base jack. Ensure installation height under 2 meters. Line-powered; no adapter required.

Check Operation

Lift handset for dial tone. Dial test number, adjust volume with +/VOLUME/- keys. Verify message LED flashes on incoming call simulation. Check ringer by calling from another line. Test parallel sharing if applicable. If no dial tone, check line cord connection, test with another phone.

No speed dial programming available. Configuration limited to administrator-only settings for ringer tone and voicemail voltage detection via physical switches/jumpers.
