Unpack the phone and ensure all components are present: handset (9117), base unit, telephone line cord, locking screw, AC adapter, battery pack, belt clip, wall mount bracket. For battery replacement: Remove battery case by pressing ridged lines and sliding downward, unplug old pack, plug in new VTECH battery, snap in place, replace cover and tighten screw. Charge new battery by placing handset in base cradle for 16 hours before first use. Maximum battery life: >7 hours talk time, 6 days standby. Place base away from water, heat sources, and interference. Use wall mount bracket if desired.

Shut off power if applicable. Remove old phone cover. Label wires before disconnecting. Disconnect wires one at a time; do not let fall into wall. Remove old base from wall.
Plug telephone line cord into base and wall jack (use DSL filter if needed). Plug power adapter into base and unswitched outlet. Install battery in handset (align plug, snap into place, replace cover and tighten screw). Place handset in base to charge for 16 hours. For wall mount, insert bracket and slide base onto mounting studs.
